Using AI and Developing Technologies to Enhance The Application of 3D Body Scanning

Overview of PhD

This doctoral research endeavors to leverage AI and technologies to enhance the application of 3D body scanning, with the overarching goal of improving clothing fit and enhancing the relationship between garments and individual body dimensions variety.

The research objectives include forming a theoretical framework to understand the significance of 3D body scanning technology in comprehending body form, evaluating AI techniques for efficient data comparison and contrast in analyzing 3D body anthropometric datasets. Furthermore, the project aims to develop clear visualizations for body dimensions, create graphical tools to illustrate body characteristics, and utilize these methods to examine the variety of body dimensions within size systems and garment pattern blocks.

The significance of this study lies in its potential to transform the importance of addressing the variety in body dimensions within standard size systems to enhance efficiency and accuracy in understanding the proportions of body measurements in relation to the overall appearance of the body. Substantially, this research delivers tangible benefits to both producers and consumers in the garment sector, particularly concerning garment sizing. Additionally, understanding differences in body characteristics and representing a diverse range of body types could assist in garment fit and customer satisfaction during the garment production practices.
