The Digital Health & Care Institute's landscape review provides an overview and examination of current international initiatives and practices to develop, assess and evaluate the use of mobile health and wellbeing apps and services.
Seventeen academic, national, regional and international initiatives were identified, examined and compared, detailing their wide-ranging approaches and scopes.
In recent years the use of mobile technologies has increased significantly, and the number of mobile phone subscriptions has grown exponentially. This has also been the case for the field of health and care. The emergence of mHealth is "transforming the way health services and information is accessed, delivered and managed."
The global mHealth market is expected to triple it's value in 2018 from 2015 to $28bn.
