Improving Access to Museum Artefacts Using Latest Technologies

Manchester Museum is working to improve access through digital technologies to create a groundbreaking user experience enabling users to touch and interact with digitally scanned museum artefacts and which addresses the needs of visitors with sensory impairments

This is led by Sam Beath, Collections Care Manager and Senior Conservator at Manchester Museum, in collaboration with Touch and Discover Systems and Loughborough University.

You can see an example of digital touch in action in the museum's current exhibition Object Lessons, which has received funding from the Science and Technology Facilities Council
