Our next Digital Futures Professional Services network meeting will be held virtually on April 16th – one week later than planned due to the extended Easter break. Members of the network will hear from John Whittaker, Head of Operations of the National Graphene Institute, and Nicola Telfer, Project Manager for Advanced Materials in Medicine at Manchester, and from Digital Futures’ Matthew Thomas on forthcoming activities in the Digital Futures Cities and Environment theme. There will be an opportunity for Q&A after each presentation. We’d love to hear from you on activity in your areas if you have any updates you’d like to share.

This is the latest in our regular series of PS Network meetings, which bring together PS staff involved in the digital space from Business Engagement, Faculty Research Support and from those supporting Institutes, Centres and Networks each month. The aim is to increase understanding of the Digital Futures programme, identify synergies with other teams and explore how we can make best use of support across the University. Previous speakers have included Vicky Taylor-Plane (Corporate Campaigns Manager) introducing the University’s five research beacons, an overview of SPRITE+ from Natalie Theodoulou (Project Manager), and an explanation of the work of BE Strategic Partnerships team from Business Engagement Officer Louise Bates, as well as regular updates from institute managers from across the university.

Digital Futures Strategy and Operations Manager Sarah Barton said “This regular event has proved to be an incredibly valuable and productive opportunity to meet and work with those who have roles in areas relating to Digital Futures 12 themes and identify areas of synergy. Each month we find out more about what UoM is doing in digital and data research, connect up network members working in similar or complementary areas, and fill in more of the detail on this activity across the whole of the University’.

Network members will be sent a link to join the meeting ahead of time, which will go live at 11am on April 16th. We very much look forward to seeing you then!

Digital Futures is a platform at the University of Manchester covering all areas of digital research, across 12 themes. Digital Futures was recently embedded in the University’s new Strategic Plan.
