Sorry, this event has now ended.
The National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) will be holding a workshop focused on providing assistance with applications for the Invention for Innovation (i4i) scheme, which supports translational research designed to advance healthcare technologies for increased patient benefit in areas of existing or emerging clinical need.
Invention for Innovation (i4i), covers two funding streams, i.e. a research-mode Product Development Award and a commissioned / theme-based Challenge Award.
A total of 114 research and development projects have been funded at a sum of £81 million. There is no upper funding limit; the largest amount awarded was £3.25 million whilst the majority received £500,000 to £600,000 for a period of 3 to 5 years.
The i4i scheme specifically supports clinically oriented collaborative projects, which have demonstrated proof-of-principle and have a clear pathway towards translation. One of the key strengths of i4i programme is that it bridges the “valley of death” by supporting projects with diverse starting points.
The NIHR would like to enhance the number and success rate of applications arising from Greater Manchester. Therefore MIMIT, in collaboration with MaRMN, will be hosting the NIHR to present a workshop assisting with the application of i4i projects on Thursday 12th January 2017.
This event will be particularly suited to those intending to apply to this funding call, have previously applied but been unsuccessful, or those who want to know more about i4i funding streams and support available during the application process.
