Time: 17:30 - 19:30
Venue: AMBS, Booth Street West, Manchester, M15 6PB
This event is hosted by the Manchester Law & Technology Initiative.
We are delighted to welcome Christina Blacklaws to the University of Manchester. Christina is the 174th President of the Law Society of England and Wales and the 5th woman to hold this office. Priorities for her presidential year include diversity, inclusion and women in the law, the future of the profession, and chairing the Technology and the Law Policy Commission - Algorithms in the Justice System.
At The University of Manchester the Law & Technology Initiative launched in 2018 as a unique academia-industry consortium to investigate the potential for, and impacts of, technology within the legal sector. Digital Trust & Security is also a key multi-disciplinary research theme. Christina’s talk will consider the intersection between these areas; it will be of interest to all those concerned with the impacts of technology in law, digital trust, and access to justice.
Refreshments will be available before the talk and it will be followed by a networking drinks reception. The event is free and open to all, although booking is essential.
