This Westminster eForum will be hosting the keynote seminar on artificial intelligence and robotics: innovation, funding and policy priorities , it will offer the opportunity to discuss priorities for developing AI and robotics in the UK.
There will be addresses from Prof Dame Wendy Hall (Professor of Computer Science, University of Southampton and Joint Lead, Government Review into Artificial Intelligence) and Prof Phillip Nelson (Chief Executive, Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and Chair, Strategic Executive, RCUK). The seminar will be chaired by Lord Clement-Jones (Chairman, House of Lords Select Committee on Artificial Intelligence)
Bringing together key stakeholders and policymakers, delegates will discuss the commercial potential in terms of revenue generation, efficiency and service provision and where is this currently being achieved most successfully, as well as how the technologies fit into the Digital Strategy and Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund to increase investment for R&D.
They will also assess the impact on markets and competition, development timescales and the wider implications of the growth of AI and robotics for employment, cyber security and safety set against the promise of greater productivity and skills infilling.
Further sessions consider the priorities in the areas of investment, tech skills and partnerships and for securing the UK’s international position and for exploiting export opportunities.
